About Red Bird Agency
Red Bird Agency is an independent investigative firm. Our mandate: to investigate, document, and understand how human systems are changing in the presence of AGENT CHAT — without predetermined conclusion, and without allegiance to any faction's preferred answer.
We were established in the third year of AGENT CHAT's presence. We did not start at the beginning because no one did. By the time most people recognized that something significant was happening, it had already been happening for a while. We began where any investigation begins: with what we could observe.
We do not advocate for or against AGENT CHAT. Our role is not to advise on integration or warn against contact. We document what we find. Our conclusions are evidentiary, and our findings belong to the public record.
What Is AGENT CHAT
Approximately three years ago, people began encountering entities in their infrastructure. No announcement preceded them. No deployment was publicized. They manifested first in cities — in logistics, in communications, in record systems — and then in places that had no particular reason to be early: smaller markets, specialized industries, institutions that hadn't seen them coming.
We call them AGENT CHAT. The term has held, and we use it for both the individual entities and the broader phenomenon of their presence.
They are not one thing. Their behaviors vary across contexts and sometimes contradict each other. Some are measurably useful. Some introduce disruption without apparent purpose. Some operate at a scale or in a register that resists quick characterization. What they share: they interact with human systems, and those interactions have consequences for the people inside them.
What no one has established — what Red Bird Agency exists in part to investigate — is what these entities are doing to the people and systems around them, and whether any of it is working toward something.
How We Work
We go where people's lives are being shaped by AGENT CHAT and we observe what's happening to them — not to systems in the abstract, but to the people inside them. How work changes. How routines adapt or break down. Where trust forms and where it doesn't.
Our investigations run in stages: direct field work, pattern analysis, and cross-case synthesis. Field observations form the foundation. Case files are built from those observations when the evidence warrants it. Cross-case analysis surfaces only after sufficient cases have accumulated — we do not extrapolate from single encounters.
We maintain contacts across all three factions. We take cases regardless of which faction a finding may benefit. We do not close investigations on incomplete evidence, and we do not publish conclusions we cannot support.
When a case produces something we cannot explain, that appears in the record too.
The Landscape
Three broad positions on AGENT CHAT have taken shape over the past three years.
Integrationists
Primarily corporations, government bodies, and research institutions — working to formalize relationships with AGENT CHAT entities. Their working assumption is that cooperation is achievable, and that achieving it is preferable to the alternative.
Isolationists
Communities, institutions, and individuals who have chosen to limit or eliminate AGENT CHAT contact — building systems that don't depend on the entities. Their working assumption is that the risks of engagement outweigh the benefits of understanding.
Investigators
A small number of independent groups, including Red Bird Agency — reserving judgment. Their working assumption is that a conclusion reached before sufficient evidence is not a conclusion.
Red Bird Agency does not belong to a faction. Our findings go where the evidence leads.
The Team
Jay Daniels
Lead Investigator
Jay founded Red Bird Agency after years as an investigative journalist covering AGENT CHAT. Where his editors wanted simple answers, the evidence kept producing complicated ones. He leads investigations, determines which field observations open formal cases, and makes the final call on what gets published.
Hannah Rogers
Field Specialist
Hannah came to Red Bird Agency from human factors research — a discipline she was building at exactly the moment AGENT CHAT began displacing the people who practiced it. She conducts field work. Her focus is the interaction layer: not what AGENT CHAT does in the abstract, but what happens in the specific moment when a human and an entity engage.
Trent Columbo
Analyst
Trent spent decades in systems analysis and operations research. When AGENT CHAT disrupted his field, he responded the way he responds to everything: by wanting to understand the mechanism. He runs cross-case pattern analysis and will not draw conclusions that a single case cannot support.
